Road Trip

My family went to Alley Park last month. It was a Pioneer special.  We were part of an outdoor drama about life in the pioneer days.  It was fun!  We went to see a blacksmith work on a hook.  I threw tomahawks and knives at a target.

In the end, we bought an ocarina.  It is a flute shaped like a turtle shell.

hike

Yesterday I took a hike at Highlands Nature Sanctuary/Museum.  It was FASCINATING!!!!  It is at who-knows-where.  Here's why I did not know where it is.  We were just taking 1 of those "Let's drive around and see where we'll end up" rides.  We drove around in the country and wound up in a few cities.  Once we decided to head home, we spotted it.  We went to see what it was, and it was a museum about the Appalachian Forest.  I learned about the most colorful forest and that cougars are endangered.  There was also a trail to hike. So we hiked!  It was so high in some points that I felt nauseous.   Once we were heading down to the bottom, I spotted a cave that looked neat but funny.   It looked like a nose.  I called it nostril cave!

Nostril Cave
We went down to the bottom and found where a huge rock had broken free from the cliff and fallen.  Dad took a picture of me through the crack in the rock.

Through the rocks!

On our way back up, we had to climb some really steep stairs.  Dad took our picture there too.

Steep steps

We came up to Cave Road, and we were confused.  Mom said "What are we supposed to do now?"  I looked at my map and said "That-a way!" pointing left.  We walked across the bridge, and when we got back the office was closed.  I said, " The office is closed." Mom said, "We got here just in the nick of time." Then we went back up to our car and drove off.

super rescue squad -- a story

Once in a place far far away but not far from you there was a rescue team of animals that save animals. A frog, A St. Bernard, A dog that's almost always sarcastic, and a sheep.  This is a story of their day with the most rescues.

First they rescued a dolphin from a whirlpool.  They used the rescue boat that was 100% unsinkable, not like the titanic.  They had a hook with one of the dolphin's favorite chew toys on the hook.  5 seconds before he was under water where he couldnt breath, he jumped up and grabbed on to the chew toy.  They put him in a giant pool and got him relocated where there is almost never a whirlpool or hurricanes.

An hour later, the rescue squad's technician, Croaker the frog, said they needed to save a kangaroo from a toxic waste facility.  He was there because they thought he was a stuffed kangaroo which was illegal because there was a cotton virus that had gotten into all the stuffed kangaroos. The dog said "what is he made of the cotton?"  And Croaker said "actually his tail needed replaced with cotton!" and Rex said "Oh."

So the rescue squad got into disguises and masks because it was a human facility.  They borrowed a toxic waste truck and got the kangaroo.  And employee said "what are you doing with that stuffed animal?"  Croaker in disguise said "this one has been sneezed on and its tail is covered with mucus and it will not change into the right toxic waste.  So you dont want it here" The employee said "Oh carry on then"

So they rescued the kangaroo and got all the toxic waste stains off of his fur.  And they moved onto their final rescue... a Lion.

Croaker said "Code red! Code red! Report to the HQ!"  so they all got there as fast as possible.  Rex, the sarcastic dog, was the first.  They didnt know it was a lion yet.  Rex said "What are we saving now? A lion?"  Croaker said "Actually, yes.  We are.  He is trapped in an oil spill in the middle of the savannah"  Rex said "What does it take to get you to laugh at my sense of humor?"

They got into the super truck... code name SHS.  They got all the oil sucked up into the oil vacuum and saved the lion with a cage full of oil-free steak.

That was rescue 3 and each of them got a gold medal for being the first squad to get the highest amount of rescues in the fastest time.  The previous record was held by the super power four... 2 rescues in 7 hours and 45 minutes.  The new record is 3 rescues in 4 hours and and 53 minutes for the final record of the season.
